Dr. Ike Chinonye Nnenna is a skilled developmental and behavioral pediatrician who has dedicated 11 years of her life to the care of children. Dr. Ike obtained her medical degree from Ebonyi State University in 2011 and completed her residency in pediatrics at Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Hospital Abakaliki. She is a fellow of the West African College of Physicians (Paediatrics) and holds a master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. She is also certified in Autism, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Dr. Ike’s passion for caring for children with special needs is evident in her work. She has received numerous awards for excellence and conducts developmental assessments for pre-school and school-age children in creche and nursery schools. Dr. Ike also evaluates high-risk newborns discharged from neonatal units to detect developmental delays and disorders early on, allowing for timely interventions. She collaborates closely with schools, special needs teachers, and psychologists to create personalized education plans for children with special needs.
Working alongside a highly experienced and competent multidisciplinary team, Dr. Ike manages patients with neurodevelopmental delays, disorders, and disabilities. She also participates in research projects in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, from conception to dissemination, to inform policy-making and facilitate change where necessary. Dr. Ike is committed to education and teaches medical students and junior doctors about common topics such as ADHD, autism, normal development in children, and signs of developmental delay.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Ike runs a support group for parents of children and adolescents with developmental, behavioral, and learning disabilities. She is happily married to Maj. Dr. Ike Emeka Samuel, and together they have five children.
